Analysing English Language Education Department Students’ Listening Comprehension Difficulties and Strategies

چکیده

This research aimed to reveal students' internal and external difficulties in dealing with listening comprehension tests. The was conducted the English Language Education Department at a private university Batam. total of participants 32 students, including second third-year students. data were analysed through mix-method, using three different instruments: questionnaire, test an interview collect perceptions their challenges strategy applied. students categorised into two groups: intermediate advanced findings show that tend lose track long conversation due lack background knowledge apply ineffective strategy. Intermediate utilised combination cognitive, metacognitive socio-affective strategies as did; however, they still needed obtain unsatisfactory results strategies. Thus, this can be useful for educational practitioners, syllabus developers, general, aware apprehension exhibit suitable minimise issue.
